History and growth
VRL began with a single truck in Gadag, North Karnataka, and rapidly expanded through southern and western India. By the 1990s, it had become a major private fleet operator, earning recognition in the Limca Book of Records for owning India’s largest private commercial vehicle fleet. Leadership later passed to Dr. Sankeshwar’s son, Anand Sankeshwar, who helped diversify operations into courier and passenger transport services.
